ON SALE AT PEBBLE BEACH, THIS FERRARI 250 LM IS ESTIMATED AT A HALLUCINATING PRICE

Ferrari's cult model, the 250 LM is the holy grail for car collectors. Completely restored, this copy is put up for auction by RM Sotheby's in August 2023, during the Pebble Beach Concours d'Élégance. Here is the estimated price.

There were 32 copies, and not one more. A Ferrari 250 LM is put up for auction in August 2023 by RM Sotheby's, on the occasion of the Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach, California. The car is the twenty-second example produced by Maranello, and it bears witness to a prestigious history.

This Ferrari 250 LM indeed took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968. It was however forced to retire after a gearbox failure. Two years earlier, in the hands of another owner, it took part in the 24 Hours of Daytona, in the United States. Where she also had to give up.

The Ferrari 250 LM is one of the greatest historic Ferrari models ever created. Less known than the 250 GTO or the Testa Rossa, the 250 LM or Le Mans, shares the V12 Colombo engine of these cars and a curved aluminum body on a steel tube chassis. But what sets the 250 LM apart from the rest of the range is the use of a mid-engine, which Ferrari intended to dominate competition in the GT category.

In total, Ferrari built 32 examples of the 250 LM. Chassis number 6053 is the 22nd car in the line and has a detailed and well-documented history. It was exhibited at the 2022 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the 2021 Ferrari Finals at Mugello and the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena. But before its life on the show circuit, it had a very active racing history.
